Getting to Know the Teacher-
I hope you've had a wonderful summer so far and getting excited for the 2018-19 school year! This summer has flown by for my family and I and we've had many fun summer adventures. Now, we are getting ready for the upcoming school year. Class lists will be posted at 4pm on Friday, August 17th. Meet the Teacher will be Tuesday, August 21st from 4-5pm. Please bring in your child's school supplies (please be sure they are labeled). A packet will be sent to your house a few days before school starts with more information.
FUN FACTS-
Here are some "fun facts" about me so when I meet you and your child at Meet the Teacher, they feel as though they already know me. My name is Kristen Zalenski and this will be my fifth year of teaching first grade here at Arrowhead. I have the best job in the world- teaching first grade. I'm a lucky mom of two smart, beautiful little girls named Isabella and Abigail who keep me very busy.
My favorite color is blue because it reminds me of the ocean. I absolutely love to travel, especially to the beach. I love feeling my toes wiggling in the sand, watching the blue ocean waves and smelling the fresh ocean air. My favorite sports are hockey and baseball. I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona and really enjoyed going to watch the Coyotes and Diamondbacks play. When I’m not in school, I enjoy being outside and I LOVE to go rollerskating!
My favorite season- FALL! Since I was little, I love the Back to School Season with the smell of fresh Crayola crayons and freshly sharpened pencils that fill the air. I enjoy watching the colors of fall fill the trees and of course, PUMPKINS! I am a huge fan of ALL THINGS PUMPKIN- especially pumpkin spice lattes!
My favorite foods are Cheetos, steak and cheese fries! I would eat Cheetos for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could.
Classroom Information-
Each family will be getting an envelope in the mail from me. Inside the envelope is information about Meet the Teacher on the 21st. Please fill out the information and bring it with you along with the school supplies. The information you provide about your child will help me get to know them more quickly and also make an easier transition to first grade. I look forward to meeting you and your child.
This blog is my MAIN SOURCE of communication with parents. Please make sure you check back each week for everything going on in our class. I will update the blog each week with current information regarding important dates, early releases and all WONDERS information. If you have time, please become familiar with the blog and click at the top right to see more drop down boxes. Please always feel free to contact me via email or by phone. Parent teacher communication is essential for each child to have a successful year.
A few things:
MORNING SNACK: Because of allergies, I ask that you send an individual snack with your child. Snacks should be quick, healthy and eaten easily. Please, no snacks that contain nuts (due to allergies), need spoons, or take time to assemble. Good snack ideas would be sliced fruit/veggies, crackers, dried cereal, Go-gurts, etc.
I do always have a community snack on hand for students who forget their snacks. If I am running low on snacks, I will send out an email and ask for donations (Goldfish, crackers, pretzels, etc.). Please do not feel obligated to donate if your child does not eat the community snack.
WATER BOTTLES: In order to continue more time on task, I ask that you send a water bottle labeled with your child's name. This will help lessen the time it takes to get drinks from the drinking fountain. They can keep them at school or take them home each day. Your choice!
I am very excited for our year together! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
