Gingerbread Houses-
There was an email sent out last week with information about our Gingerbread house decorating on Friday, December 21st before Winter Break at 1:15 to 2:00pm. If you would like to come in to help students and clean up, please send me an email. We would love your help!
Wonders/GoMath-
In Wonders, our spelling words focus on digraphs -ch, -tch, wh and ph. Digraphs are definitely a challenge for first grade I appreciate any extra support you can do at home to encourage mastery. There will be a spelling test this week then not one the week before Winter Break. We will review our spelling words. During reading group we are reading and identifying the main topic and key details for comprehension.
In GoMath we are continuing on with subtraction strategies. We are learning that addition and subtraction have related facts so if you are fluent in addition, subtraction is typically much easier. For example, if you know that 5+3=8, then you know that 8-3=5. We are using pictures and counting back to solve subtraction problems.
